Established on 14 May 1986 Kopdit Setiawan is the only one formed by the bureaucratic elite circle in the Ngada District. The functionaries and members are the leading people in Setda Ngada, namely the Regent, and all principals and staff. However, Kopdit Setiawan has a highly caring attitude and opened access to the general public. This particularly benefited women trading in the traditional markets in Bajawa and its surrounding areas. In November 2005 a micro finance programme was begun enabling members to start saving and obtain loans for the development of trade and essential needs. A small shop was also opened to sell necessities. The direct saving and lending system is much respected in the market place. As at November 2007 membership was 1427, assets Rp.5.312.131.187 and outstanding loans Rp.2.8 billion.
