The Co-operative of Credit Insurance more generally known as Credit Union.

The Credit Union first started in Ende-Flores in 1972 and was known as Credit Union Jayakarta. It was an initiative taken by Pater Ir, B.J.Baack, SVD who at that time worked at the Social Development Commission of the Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of Ende (Delsos). In June 1974, Credit Union Jayakarta co-operated with Delsos and CUCO Indonesia in carrying out elementary courses with participants coming from all over Flores. Following this a number of credit unions sprung up. That expansion was co-ordinated by the manager of the Credit Union to form Badan Pembina and Pengembangan Credit Union (BPP CU) East Nusa Tenggara region, part of West Flores including the sub provinces of Ende, Ngada, Manggarai, Sumba Timor and Sumba Barat. Official Members of BPD CU at that time were Guido Lakapung, Frans Fernandez and Agus Beu Mude. In 1978, BPP CU changed its name to become Badan Pengembangan Daerah Koperasi Kredit NTT Barat. In 1982 the name BPD-KK NTT Barat was altered to become Badan Koordinasi Koperais Kredit Daerah (BK3D-NTT Barat). In 1995 decentralisation of the service was then considered and Puskopdit Sumba and Puskopdit Manggarai were formed.

Realising the importance of formal legal status at secondary level to oversee the primary credit unions, on the 22 August 1998 the status of BK3D Barat was changed to become Pusat Koperasi Kredit Bekatigade Ende-Ngada (PuskopditBEN) and was registered on 13 March 1999 with legal number: 03/BH/KKW24/III/1999. PuskopditBEN covers the sub provinces of Ende, Ngada and Nagekeo.

As at December 2007 PuskopditBEN had 62 primary credit unions and 33,542 members.
