Kopdit Harapan was founded on 1 October 1982 and gained government legal status registration no 26/BH/KWK.24/V1/1997. This Credit Union, lying below the slopes of Inerie the highest mountain in Flores-Ngada, attaches great importance to upholding the principles of the co-op. All agreements which have been made as organisational and directional guidance are adhered to seriously both by members and especially management. They consistently carry out confiscation of defaulting mortgages after oral and written warnings. This action is applied across the board regardless of the status of the member and is based on past experience. Borrowers defaulting on loans almost caused the Credit Union to fold. However, the Kopdit was rebuilt successfully with great emphasis being placed on credit management. Membership at 30 November 2007 was 1,777 (mostly farmers and fisherman) and assets of Rp.7.482.669 It has a permanent office with a computerised management system ( Sikopdit and Sum-Suk, printer pass-book).

Product diversification is carried out by share and non share deposit. Sibuhar (current account), Sisuka (deposit account), Sidandik ( deposit to look after future needs such as education).
